Kid Fuel Program
Schools and Churches working together
This program is being established in school systems across the country to feed children on the weekend who are on free and reduced lunch programs. Through research and review it has been discovered that most of these children have very little to eat from Friday at school until Monday morning at school breakfast. This program is to provide some food for the weekend.
How the program works
To establish this program within your church/school community you will need to contact the school system in your area to see if they are interested in participating. It takes the cooperation of both organizations to make the program work. The main goal is to try and feed as many children as possible.
It is recommended that you start small and begin with kindergarten children. As your program grows you will find that the need exists in all grades, yes even high school. The teachers themselves actually pick the children since they deal with the on a daily basis and know their circumstances.

Setting up
The way it works is bags of food are prepared containing the items on the attached list. All the food is prepackaged and does not require any cooking. The food list has been approved by a state dietician. The bags are taken to the school on Friday and the teachers place the bags into the children's backpacks. This is done as discretely as possible as not to bring any attention to the child. The school is responsible for explaining to the children how our program works and that the food needs to last them for the weekend. As a church you will deliver the food and never know which children receive the bags. The church needs to bless the bags each week with prayer before delivering them to the school.
